This publication is a research protocol and field guide, developed for the Where the Rain Falls research project. The project aims to improve the understanding about how rainfall variability affects food and livelihood security, and undertook research in eight case study countries.This InterSections issue explains the rationale behind the research methods chosen, provides guidelines for training workshops and explains the entire research process.
